Drawing furnace
Drawing refers to a heat treatment process in which the material in question is heated after hardening so that the structure and properties can be affected in a targeted manner in order to create optimal conditions for further processing. If the material is heated in a drawing furnace, stresses which occur inside the structure of the material during hardening or quenching and can result in rejection of the workpiece can be consistently counteracted.
The drawing furnace is therefore an important piece of equipment in thermal processing technology to prevent brittleness of a workpiece after hardening and to ensure optimal material properties.
The drawing process is used primarily for steel, lightweight metals such as aluminium, non-ferrous metals such as copper, zinc, bronze, brass and for alloys. However, drawing furnaces are also used in the glass industry to influence material properties in a targeted manner.
