_Heat Soak Test Furnace

This type of furnace is used in the testing of tempered safety glass, whereby so-called spontaneous breakage which usually occurs in everyday situations due to impacts is to be deliberately caused by heating the glass. Tempered safety glass consists of a single, thermally toughened pane. The glass is heated intensely at first and is then subjected to sudden cooling. This increases shock and impact resistance.

It is then tested in a heat soak test, by storing it hot for at least four hours. Thus, so-called spontaneous breakage, in which localized nickel sulfide inclusions in non-tested tempered safety glass, which can change their structure years later and destroy the glass, is largely reduced and the risk of injury in everyday situations is reduced considerably.
